Math isn’t everyone’s strong suit. Some students have always struggled with math. Others fell behind during the Covid years and never caught up.
But core math knowledge is critical. It’s critical for students who want to succeed in their 11th and 12 grade math classes. It’s critical for students going to college, where a math class or two will likely be required regardless of major. Math is critical to succeed in nearly any career. And math is critical for anyone who wants to be a self-sufficient adult, managing finances and making mathematically informed decisions for everything life throws at us.
For students looking to enhance their math knowledge, we offer two math enhancement programs:
A series of weekly math enhancement courses throughout the fall
Weeklong summer math camps in July
Benefits of Math Enhancement Programs
A New Way of Seeing Math: Math is cumulative. Most students who excel at math are able to incorporate new knowledge and concepts into the broad mathematical framework they have built over years. Most students who struggle with math simply never built that framework: they memorize procedures to pass tests in school, but don’t incorporate new knowledge into a broader system of understanding. We’ll help students build their frameworks, ideally replacing a lifelong fear of math with new math confidence.
Enthusiastic Expert Instructor: All math enhancement programs are taught by Colin. With years of experience helping students succeed on the math sections of the SAT and ACT, Colin can help students build their math frameworks and confidence. Colin’s sessions and group classes are known around our office for being high-energy.
Interactive Small Group Learning: Students will benefit from a small group learning environment that fosters collaboration and personalized attention. They’ll interact with fellow students, work together to solve problems, and compete at math games within a supportive community of learners.
Weekly Math Enhancement Courses (Fall 2024)
Schedule: Math enhancement classes will be held Wednesday evenings, 6:00-7:30pm throughout Fall 2024. There will be a total of 13 classes. Each class is 1.5 hours, for a total of nearly 20 hours of in-person math enhancement.
First class: Wed Sep 11th
Last class: Wed Dec 11th
No class on Wed, Nov 27th (day before Thanksgiving).
Fee: Two payment options:
1) Pay as you go ($75 for each 1.5-hour class). This option is best for students who are unable to commit to attending class every week.

Materials: Students should bring a calculator and laptop. We’ll supply them with everything else they need. All materials are included in the prices listed above.
Is this test prep? How does this work with test prep? These math enhancement programs are intended to create competent, confident math learners who will gain an intuitive math framework, better content knowledge, and comfort with math reasoning. Because the SAT and ACT test students on mathematical reasoning and a wide variety of math concepts, these programs should help students tremendously on the SAT or ACT. For 10th or 11th grade students, these courses are a great way to build math skills prior to test prep. For 12th graders whose math weaknesses were revealed through the test prep process, this is an opportunity to build the math frameworks they’ll need for 12th grade, college, and life.
