Some students have always found math difficult. Others were on track until the Covid years knocked them off course and never fully recovered. Either way, falling behind tends to compound. Math is cumulative, and a weak foundation in one area can make the next one that much harder to build on.
What's easy to miss is how far early math struggles can reach. They don't stay in the classroom. Gaps in foundational skills can follow students into upper-level high school courses, college, and beyond. Strong math skills aren't purely academic either. Comfort with numbers and quantitative reasoning affects how confidently someone can read a financial statement, weigh a major decision, or make sense of data they encounter every day.
For students who want to get back on solid ground, we offer math enhancement programs in the summer and fall.
Benefits of Math Enhancement Programs
A New Way of Seeing Math: Most students who struggle with math aren't lacking ability. They're lacking a framework. Strong math students build a mental structure over time and fit new concepts into it. Struggling students tend to memorize procedures to pass the next test, without ever connecting the pieces. Our math enhancement program is designed to help students build that framework: to understand not just how to execute a procedure, but why it works and how it connects to everything else, ideally replacing a lifelong fear of math with new math confidence.
Enthusiastic Expert Instructor: All math enhancement programs are taught by Colin. Colin's teaching style is high-energy and interactive, and he has a track record of helping students who previously felt stuck find real traction with math.
Interactive Small Group Learning: Classes are kept small intentionally. Students will benefit from a small group learning environment that fosters collaboration and personalized attention. Students work through problems collaboratively, learn from each other's approaches, and get more direct attention than a typical classroom setting allows.
Guided Math Practice: Math improvement doesn't happen in class alone. In addition to weekly sessions, the program includes structured practice time at our Ambler office, where students can work through assignments with support from our teaching assistants. This built-in accountability helps students stay consistent between classes.
Summer 2026 Math Enhancement Class
June 16 – August 25, 2026
Tuesdays, 4:30–6:00pm
First class: Tuesday, June 16th
Final class: Tuesday, August 25th
11 total classes | 16.5 hours of class time | Up to 10 additional hours of guided practice time
Pre-Class Structured Practice Hour (Strongly Recommended). Starting with the second class, a structured practice hour runs from 3:30–4:30pm before each session, guided by peer mentors at our Ambler office. This is not a required part of enrollment, but we strongly encourage all students to attend. Students who take advantage of this built-in practice time consistently get more out of the course.
Tuition: $749. This rate is lower than the Fall session for two reasons: the summer session has one fewer class, and summer is summer. We expect students to travel, take vacations, and miss a week here and there. The course is intentionally designed so that missing a handful of sessions won't significantly set a student back.
Fall 2026 Math Enhancement Class
September 16 – December 9, 2026

First class: Wednesday, September 16th
Final class: Wednesday, December 9th
No class Thanksgiving week
12 total classes | 18 hours of class time | Up to 11 additional hours of guided practice time

Is this test prep? How does this work with test prep? Not exactly, but the two go hand in hand. These programs are designed to build genuine math competency: a stronger foundation, better content knowledge, and more comfort with mathematical reasoning. Because the SAT and ACT assess exactly those things, students who complete a math enhancement program tend to see meaningful gains in their test scores as well.
For 10th, and 11th graders, this is an excellent way to build math skills before beginning formal test prep. For 12th graders whose math gaps surfaced during the test prep process, it's an opportunity to build the foundation they'll need for senior year, college, and beyond.
